The World's Largest Democratic Party
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was founded on 6 April 1980. It emerged from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which was formed in 1951 by Syama Prasad Mukherjee. The BJP's origin lies in the Janata Party, which was formed when the Bharatiya Jana Sangh merged with other parties to oppose the Emergency imposed in 1975.
Since its foundation, the BJP has stood for nationalism, national integration, and democratic values. The party has grown to become India's largest political party with over 180 million members, making it the world's largest democratic political organization.
